Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-gran, Jessie Bell Davenport Woody, age 98, of Suches, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, September 22, 2021.
She was born August 4, 1923, in Union County, Georgia, to the late Marion Columbus Davenport and the late Rebecca Odom Davenport. Jessie loved the Lord with all her heart and was a member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church. She loved listening to music, quilting and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson Woody; son, C.W. Woody; daughter-in-law, Patricia Woody; sisters, Dovie Woody, Vestie Thomas, Verdie Rhodes and Frankie Watkins; and brothers, Ivan “Bee” Cobb and James Ulysses Davenport.
Jessie is survived by sons, Clyde (Jeannine) Woody, Randall Woody, Howard (Marie) Woody; daughter, Pauline (Solon) Pless; daughter-in-law, Linda Stowe Woody; grandchildren, Stacy Lewis, Kimberly Garrett, Amanda Murphy, Miranda Woody, Angie Booker, Robert Woody and Regina Harper; and great-grandchildren, Reece Lewis, Addison, Emerson and Anna Kate Booker, Grayson and Kayden Harper and Merritt and Vance Murphy.
Graveside services were held Sunday, October 3, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Sugar Hill Baptist Church with the Tim Garrett officiating. Pallbearers were Daniel Murphy, Michael Harper, Robert Woody and Jason Booker.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge.
