Helena Burgess Corn, age 90 of Epworth, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020.
She was born in Tyus, Georgia, February 4, 1930, to the late Pleasant Lewis Burgess and Callie Karr Burgess. Mrs. Corn had worked at Epworth Elementary School as a paraprofessional educator. She was a dedicated, devout church member since 1943, a matriarch, and the longest serving member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kermit C. Corn; and son, Kendall Corn.
Survivors are daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Will Hamilton of Hiram, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Betty Jo Corn of McCaysville; grandchildren, Raymond Cole, Crystal Chiang, Connie (Chris) Helton and Jeanne (Mike) Dobrinski; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Grace Ann Corn of Epworth, and two brothers-in-law, Tommy Corn of Sylvania, Georgia, and John Corn of Parris, Florida.
Graveside services were conducted Sunday, December 27, 2020, at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Epworth cemetery with the Rev. Byron Ahrens officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 163, Epworth, Georgia, 30541.
