Helen Huffman

Helen C. Huffman, age 87, of McCaysville, passed away April 28, 2021, at her home. 

Helen was born April 13, 1934, in McCaysville, to the late Holland Cantrell and Olla Smith Cantrell. She worked in the food industry as a restaurant manager. Helen was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leslie Cantrell, Leonard Cantrell and Willard Cantrell; and sister, Alvie Cantrell.

Helen is survived by her husband, William J. “Jackie” Huffman of the home; step-son, Keith (Kim) Huffman of McCaysville; step-daughter, Karen (Scott) Bryant of Copperhill; brother, Edgar (Louise) Cantrell of Epworth; sisters, Irene Henson of McCaysville, Loretta (Fred) Rhodes of Blue Ridge, and Mary Dalton of Copperhill; step-grandchildren, Drew Deaver, Ryan Deaver, Katie Huffman, Stran Bryant and Zeke Huffman; and step-great-grandchildren, Lana Deaver, Walker Deaver and Gunner Deaver.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Mount Liberty Baptist Church Parking Area with Rev. John Newton, Rev. Robbie Chastain and Rev. Travis Hughes officiating. Music was provided by Stacy Deal, Greg and Gaela Lashley, the Chastain family and Ryan Chastain. 

Interment followed in the Mount Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers, John Acuff, Jamie Cantrell, Russell Cantrell, Drew Deaver, Ryan Deaver, Mark Dalton and Zeke Huffman. Serving as honorary pallbearers were the deacons and preachers of Mount Liberty Baptist Church, Lynn Payne, Jacob Couch, Ryan Chastain and Daniel Henson.
