Harrison Benjamin Norton

Mr. Harrison Benjamin Norton, Jr., better known as “Junior,” age 80, of Blue Ridge, passed away September 3, 2021, in Austell, Georgia.

Born in Fannin County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Harrison Benjamin Norton Sr. and Bertie Seabolt Norton. Junior was a faithful employee to Shaw Industries for 47 years. He was also of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ellen Gooch Norton; sisters, Grace Patterson, Ruth Johnson, Shirley and her husband, J.T. Deaton.

Survivors include his sisters and brothers-in-law, Beulah and Jerry Cooper, of Ellijay, Georgia, Donnie Norton, of Blue Ridge, Rosetta and Troy Kyle, of Flowery Branch, Georgia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jessie Norton, of Ringgold, Georgia, Albert and Janice Norton, of Blairsville, Georgia, Jerry and Diane Norton and Jim and Hilda Norton, both of Blue Ridge; special caregiver, Liz Bucy; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 6, 2021, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Akins Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Williams officiating.

Interment followed in the Sugar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Travis Norton, John McClure, William McClure, Isaac McClure, Butch Anderson and Darell Cruse.
