Glenn Edwin O’Neill, age 86, of Blue Ridge, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at Blue Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care.
He was born March 7, 1935, on Staten Island, New York, the only child of the late Michael Edwin O’Neill, of County Wexford, Ireland, and Louise Bridewell O’Neill, of Birmingham, Alabama. Glenn was a graduate of Hueytown High School, Hueytown, Alabama, and he attended Bradley University. Following his retirement from the United States Air Force after 24 years of service, he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration in Key West, Florida, for 11 years. He was a member of Hemptown Baptist Church, past Master of Blue Ridge Lodge #67 F&AM and 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite. Glenn was predeceased by his parents; infant son, Patrick Terrence O’Neill; and granddaughter, Amy M. Cox.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Merle Ione O’Neill, of Blue Ridge; daughter, Glenda Ann Frazier (Tim), of Quinlan, Texas; son, Michael David O’Neill (Debra) of Quinlan; grandson, Colton O’Neill; grandson-in-law, Robby Cox; and great-grandchildren, Sydney Michell Cox and Riley Edwin Cox.
Funeral Services were conducted Monday, September 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home, of Blue Ridge, Chapel with Rev. Harold Willis officiating. Music was provided by Debbie Jones and Brian Huffman. Masonic Rites were provided by the Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge #67 F&AM.
Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Andy Johns, Jim Culberson, Tim Frazier, Tyler Johns and Ty Johns.
