Glen Morrow, 82, of Farner, peacefully passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021, at his residence.

He was a native of Cherokee County and had lived the past 42 years just inside Tennessee. He was a 1958 graduate of Hiwassee Dam High School. Glen had worked as a mining foreman for 27 years for Tennessee Chemical until it closed in 1987. He was known as “Porky” around the mines. Following his mining career, he had worked for Jacky Jones Ford, Industrial Piping and, finally, in construction until retiring at age 70.

Glen attended Church of God of Prophecy. He loved hunting, his hound dogs, game chickens and raising wild hogs. Glen had a generous heart and would help anyone in need.

He was the son of the late Loyd Edgar and Alice Graves Morrow. He is also preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Reid, Dorothy Fralick and Pauline Cain; and five brothers, Clinton, Ralph, Ray, Robert and Eldon Morrow.

Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Jo Voyles Morrow; daughter, Sonya Daves and husband, Ricky, of Morganton; son, Jeffery Morrow, and wife, Laura, of Hope Mills, North Carolina; three brothers, Howard Morrow and wife, Margaret, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Donnie Morrow and wife, Lisa, of Copperhill, and Kenny Morrow, of Turtletown; eight grandchildren, Weston Daves and wife, Heather, Chason Daves and fiancée, Narisa,Candace Daves, Logan Daves and wife, Macy, Daylen Morrow and wife, Dayna, Devin Morrow, Jacob Morrow, and Jenna Morrow; six great-grandchildren, Andrea, Presley, Copen, Everett, Inman and Laiken Daves; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2021, at the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, North Carolina, with his grandson, Logan Daves, and Reverend Gerald Mann officiating. Music was provided by Tom Anderson.

Interment took place in Friendship Baptist Church #2 Cemetery. Pallbearers were Weston Daves, Chason Daves, Daylen Morrow, Jacob Morrow, Channon Morrow and Andy Morrow. Honorary pallbearers were Lewis Voyles, Kenneth Jones, John Brooks, Scott Bennie and Johnny Cain.

The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021, at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.

Ivie Funeral Home of Murphy was in charge of all arrangements.
