Mrs. Delores Jean Knight, age 66, of Morganton, passed away at her home December 21, 2020.
She was born in Columbus, Georgia, October 21, 1954, to the late Harold and Madeline Stephens Strout. Mrs. Knight loved to paint and enjoyed all kinds of gardening. She also loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She had operated Pelican Landscaping for a number of years and attended the Mineral Bluff House of Prayer.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Donavie Knight and Michael and Mary Knight all of Georgia; siblings and their spouses, Mickey Strout of Tennessee, Debbie and Ed David of Georgia, Linda and the Rev. Doug Nave of Georgia, Mary and Ralph Marra of Florida, and Michael and Betty Strout also of Florida; mother-in-law, Sharon Cain of Tennessee; grandchildren, Kody Knight of Tennessee, Ryan Knight of Georgia, Austin Knight of North Carolina, Katie Stanley, Justin Knight, Kimberly Holman, Alex Knight, Caleb Knight, Riley Knight, Nykiri Knight, Tavera Knight, and Sierra Knight all of Georgia; 11 great-grandchildren; 14 nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family hosted a memorial service Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at 6 p.m. at the Living Waters Church of God in Morganton, with the Rev. Leonard Hunter officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in the Knight Family Cemetery.
