Clyde Welch

Clyde Roosevelt Welch, age 87, of Blue Ridge, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021, at his home. 

Mr. Welch was born in Chatsworth, Georgia, May 14, 1933, to the late Floyd Knighten Welch and Ollie Jane Osborn Welch. Mr. Welch proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a construction superintendent for Griggs Construction for a number of years. He was also a member of Lebanon Baptist Church and more recently attended Hipps Chapel Church. Preceding him in death includes his daughter, Darlene Welch Whittmore; brothers, Floyd “Perk” Welch and Roland Welch; and a sister, Aileen Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Welch of Blue Ridge; two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan Boutot of Dalton, Georgia, and Debbie and Eddie Rogers, of Chatsworth; only grandchild, Jennifer Ann LaRose of Truckee, California; bonus grandchild, Jennifer Young of Rapid City, South Dakota; brothers and sister-in-law, Ray and Joyce Welch of Chatsworth and Jackie Welch of Chatsworth; mother-in-law, Myrtle Brooks of Blue Ridge; sister-in-law, Shirley Welch of Chatsworth; special niece and nephew, Rachel and Billy Brooks; several other nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 1 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Claude Mathis and Rev. Delmar Davenport officiating. Music was by the Hipps Chapel Church Choir. Pallbearers were Waylon O’Neal, Drew Deaver, Wade Rymer, Billy Brooks, Sam Brooks and Doyle Patterson. Military honors were provided by the United States Army. 

Interment followed in the Hipps Chapel Community Cemetery.
