Charles Edward Hawkins, age 86, of Mineral Bluff, passed away August 26, 2021, at his home.

He was born August 27, 1934, in Fannin County, to Charles Atley Hawkins and Elizabeth Bell Hawkins. Charles was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church and worked with the Fannin County Road Department for over 20 years. A hard worker all his life, he enjoyed hunting, gospel music, going to church and helping others when he could. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Lois Gibson Hawkins; parents, Atley Hawkins and Elizabeth Hawkins; brother Cliff Hawkins; sisters, Jean Hawkins Helton and Ethlene Hawkins Helton; and sons-in-law, Phillip Thomas and Chris Deal.

He is survived by daughters, Sue (Jack) Bryson, Sherry (Mitchell) Hicks, Brenda Thomas, Ann (Scott) Graves, Tammy (Bobby Joe) Shields, Dale (Joe) Mathis and Lori Deal; sons, Ed (Betty) Hawkins, Tim (Dana) Hawkins, Mike (Dana) Hawkins and Denny (Amy) Hawkins; sister, Kathy McClure; brothers, Bob Hawkins, Ben Hawkins and Leroy Hawkins; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were conducted Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 4:30 p.m. at New Liberty Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Hooper officiating. Music was provided by the Caylor family.

His grandsons and nephew, David Hawkins, served as pallbearers, and his sons-in-law served as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the ALS Foundation of Georgia or to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge.
