J. Carroll Ledbetter Sr., age 80, of Epworth, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021, at Fannin Regional Hospital.

Carroll was born October 30, 1941, in Union, South Carolina, to the late Lowell Ledbetter and Pearl Johnson Ledbetter. He had lived in this area for the past 29 years and was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served as an elder and manager of the Adventist Radio Station. Along with his wife, Anita, they organized the Nativity Scene at the church for several years.

In addition, he had served as a director with Pathfinders-Adventist Youth Ministries. Most of Carroll’s working career was as Director of Laboratory with AdventHealth in several locations across the United States and worked most recently at Gordon Hospital in Calhoun, Georgia, until his retirement. In addition, he served as a missionary for three years in Belem Hospital in Belem, Brazil, where he worked on mission boats traveling up and down the Amazon River and at the hospital.

He was a multi-talented person who mastered many skills, including carpentry and electrical work. But his passion was his family, church and writing poetry. He was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Ledbetter.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Anita Blake Ledbetter; daughter, Darlene Williams; daughter and son-in-law, Charlie and Sean Eubanks; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Lori Ledbetter; sister, Shirley Clark; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends also survive.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. December 12, 2021, at the Fannin County Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home.
