Callie Cochran

Callie Marie Cochran, age 83, of Farner, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, in Blue Ridge.

She was born May 25, 1938, in Murphy, North Carolina, to the late Henry Mays and Lena Mae Ledford Taylor.

Callie was a member of Community Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands Willis Edgar Allen and Everett Cochran; brother, Glenn Taylor; and a stepdaughter, April Cochran. Mrs. Cochran was known as a loving mother. She was a mother and friend, not only to her children but to everyone she met.

She is survived by her sons, Eddie Allen and Rev. Mitchell (Ann) Allen, both of Farner; daughters, Sandra McCoy of Cleveland, Tennessee and Susie (Randy) Payne of Farner; brother, Hoyt Taylor of Farner; sisters, Betty Allen and Jewell Allen, both of Farner; grandchildren, Matthew (Samantha) Allen, Kayla (Dylan) Freeman, Tiffany Payne, Janet Taylor, Allison Allen, Samantha Padgett, Elijah Allen, and Shannon McCoy; great grandchildren, Roman Freeman, Karly Freeman, Zeb Allen, Sky Taylor, Leah Taylor, Khloe Taylor, Kroy Padgett, Evan Crain, Paisley Allen, and Hudson Sanford.

A Covid-Safe funeral service was conducted Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from the parking lot of the Community Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Weaver officiating. Mrs. Cochran did lie in state at the church from noon until the service hour of 2 p.m. Music was provided by Tammy Ware. Pallbearers were Randy Raper, Randall Payne, Edward Payne, Elijah Allen, Robert Allen, and Paul Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Junior Allen, Daniel Allen, and Jordan Dalton.

Interment followed in the Community Baptist Church Cemetery.
