Billie Jean Cook, age 86, of Mineral Bluff, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022, at Northside Hospital Forsyth.
Mrs. Cook was born August 14, 1935, in McCaysville, to the late Prince E. Johnson and the late Willie Irene Parris Johnson. She was a lifelong resident of Fannin County and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Billie Jean taught Sunday School for 30 years and was the VBS Director for 10 years. She was a member of the Grief Share Group at the First United Methodist Church of Copperhill, where she served as a facilitator and helped so many with their grief.
Billie Jean enjoyed volunteering to help others in need. Mrs. Cook was well-known, well thought of and well-loved by those in the community. Billie Jean loved her family, granddaughter and great-grandchildren, and she especially loved her Lord and enjoyed God’s feathered creation of the Cardinals and the beautiful deer. She was preceded in death by her father, Prince E. Johnson; mother, Willie Irene Parris Johnson; husband, Calvin Franklin Cook; and daughter, Andrea Cook Hyde.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Hannah (Avram) Allen; great-granddaughter, Londyn Andrea Allen; a great-grandson, Liam Alexander Allen; and many cousins, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel of McCaysville, with Rev. Scott Graves and Rev. Matthew McDaniel officiating. Music by Ed Vest, Scott Graves and Jean Ellison.
Interment will follow in the Copper Ridge Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers included: Jason Collis, Joel Hopkins, Tim Woodward, Avram Allen, Steven Ellison and Anthony Allen. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Collis, Wallace Quintrell, Sam Parr, William Wright, Jack Parris, Gary Parris, Danny Parris, Eulan Brooks, Kenny Atkins, Greg Crawford, Lynn Cheek and Grief Share Group.
The family received friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel of McCaysville, Saturday, January 15, 2022, from noon until 1 p.m.
