Rebecca Kay Coleman, affectionately known as “Becky”, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 15, 2021, at her daughter’s residence.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Milton Leroy and Marilyn Elizabeth VanHouten Lanning. She was a dedicated wife and loving mother.

She loved spending time with her family, and also to travel, especially to her home in Alaska, where she loved to fish. Becky was a devoted Christian and a faithful member to the First Freewill Baptist Church in Hayesville, North Carolina. Her Christian faith also led her to be instrumental in the foundation of the Mountain Area Christian Academy and Grace Christian Academy, providing Christ-centered educational programs.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Ron Coleman of Blue Ridge; children and their spouses, Travis Coleman and Amy and Daniel Urano both of Blue Ridge, and Roxanne and Brett Baudet of Cherry Log; grandchildren, Taylor Coleman, Brady Coleman, Kalei Urano, Ellianna Urano, Lillianna Urano and Jericho Urano; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Charlene Lanning, Jim and Millie Lanning, all of Grove City, Ohio, and Mike and Keely Thompson of Corning, Ohio; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were conducted Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at 2 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Shawn Beauchamp officiating.
