Special Olympics athletes shine at Old Toccoa Farm

    The Old Toccoa Farm Men’s Association sponsored the cookout lunch at the Special Olympics Golf Event Tuesday, July 19 at Old Toccoa Farm. Shown are, from left, Craig Hartman, Jeff Lake, Glendon Smith, Scott Belcher, Criag Anderson and Steve Demboski.

    “It was a wonderful day at Old Toccoa Farms,” said Fannin County Special Olympics Local Area Coordinator Gini Tipton.

    The Fannin County Special Olympic athletes took to the golf course Tuesday, July 19.

    “Athletes participated in a short putt, long putt, chip shot, pitch shot, iron shot and wood shot,” said Tipton, “The better the shot, closer to the hole, furthest on the drive, etc. earned the athletes more points.”

    Alex Hughes was the top scorer followed by Rick Kruse as the second highest for the day.

    Tipton added, “All of our athletes did incredibly well and showed fantastic progress!”

    The event was organized by the Special Olympics Golf Coach and Coordinator Craig Hartman.

    The Old Toccoa Men’s Golf Association sponsored “the cookout lunch on the terrace at the new Old Toccoa Farms Tavern.” The Men’s Association includes Craig Hartman, Jeff Lake, Glendon Smith, Scott Belcher, Craig Anderson and Steve Demboski.

    “A huge thank you to all our coaches, Old Toccoa Farms and the Men’s Association for a wonderful season an culminating event!”  said Tipton.
