A $60,000 goal for the sixth annual Walk for Life benefitting Her Hope Pregnancy Center was met during the fundraising event June 6.
The humidity didn't stop the numerous participants from getting their steps in at the Fannin County Recreation Complex on Tom Boyd Road.
Executive Director Lori Kantner told those in attendance how the organization started in an 800 square foot apartment and now occupies that entire building.
Last year, they opened a free medical clinic offering ultrasounds with Registered Nurse Ansley Waters. They have administered 68 ultrasounds and pregnancy tests since the clinic opened last September.
"Through our clinic, we were able to be a part of an abortion pill reversal," Kantner said with tear-filled eyes, "and if you don't know what that means is we were able to connect with someone who was in a position that had taken the abortion pill. We connected them with the hotline and I am just happy to say that baby is growing in that momma's womb today."
She added that their major goal for the year is to reach abortion-minded individuals.
