Nine young people baptized through FCA

Five young men were saved, accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and were baptized last week along with three other young men and one young lady Tuesday, September 6, with guidance and help from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

“FCA is nonprofit organization that works with sports teams to share the gospel of Jesus and inspire others to do the same. Local FCA strives to engage, equip and empower coaches and athletes to be disciples to make disciples,” said Matt Queen.

Queen, who is the FCA director for North Central Georgia, started a weekly Bible study with a group of guys from the Fannin County High School football team who wanted to learn more about the gospel and how to share it. Queen said that through the study, “We challenged each other to share the gospel and talk about our faith with others.”

Nate Maloof, along with others who participate in the weekly Bible study, spoke to some of their teammates after practice about their faith and what it meant to share the gospel. This led to the salvation of five of their teammates and friends.

Maloof said,“It feels unreal the way everything has happened, but it’s just God working through us to make it possible.”

Lawson Sullivan, Carson Callihan, Braden Taylor, Braxton Cheatham,Vince Foster, Bryson Holloway, Jeremy Tammen, Graham Maloof and Annaleigh Cheatham were all baptized Tuesday afternoon.

Tammen says that “because of Jesus, I feel like a new person.”

Holloway feels like he’s “a better person” after putting his faith in Jesus.

“I’m a changed man,” said Sullivan when talking about his salvation.

“It was a life changing experience for those players. It really opened my eyes up to the Lord working through our team,” said Jack Kantner.

Cade Sands, who also attends the Bible study said, “I think it was incredible and it shows that there’s something bigger than football going on within the team.”
