The Fannin County Lady Rebels softball team remained undefeated in region play after a 4-3 win over North Murray Thursday, August 18.
The first inning went scoreless for both teams.
Natalie Herendon started on the rubber for the Lady Rebels and had three back-to-back strikeouts to start the second inning. Both teams stayed at zero runs.
At the top of the third, North Murray scored the first run of the game and followed with two outs.
The Lady Rebels answered offensively by scoring in the bottom of the inning. The run was made by Zoe Putnam.
North Murray added one more run to the board before turning it over to the Lady Rebels in the fourth inning, where Fannin remained at one.
The score was 2-1 leaning in favor of North Murray to start the fifth inning. Herendon pitched two strikeouts and North Murray hit one right into the hands of center fielder Callie Ensley.
Lady Rebel Makayla Stiles tied the game at 2-2 with a run in bottom of the fifth.
To begin the sixth, North Murray added one more run to the board, making the score 3-2 with the hosts leading.
No one scored until the bottom of the seventh when Stiles and Putnam both stole home to give the Lady Rebels a 4-3 lead to end the game.
The Lady Rebels will continue region play Thursday, August 25, against Murray County at home at 5 p.m.
