Track and field team shines in state competition

The Fannin County High School (FCHS) track and field teams had eight members and one team make the podium at the 2A State Championship.

For the state of Georgia in AA, Seth Reece placed third in shot put, Matthew Crowder placed fourth in shot put, Hayden Lynch placed fifth in high jump, Tyler Stevenson place fifth in pole vault, Corbin Davenport seventh in pole vault, Zechariah Prater placed eighth in boys 3200 meter run and Lindsey Holloway placed seventh in girls 3200 meter run.

The girls 4x800 meter relay team placed seventh. The team consists of Caylee Gaddis, Lindsey Holloway, Carlee Holloway, Monica Consentino, and Kinsley Sullivan.

During the regular season, the boys team earned first place in five of their six meets and second place at the other meet.

The girls team took first or second place in four of the six meets. Both boys and girls teams are 8AA region runner-ups.

The boys team finished sixteenth in the entire state in AA.

Head Coach Miranda Roof said, “The coaches are extremely honored and humbled to share this wonderful journey with these incredibly talented athletes.

“We could not be more proud of this team and cannot wait until FCHS track and field 2023 as we are only losing a handful of seniors.”
