Many members of the Fannin County High School (FCHS) Track and Field athletes competed Saturday, March 30, in the Georgia Spring Break Showdown at Marietta High School. Head Coach Miranda Roof said, “Thousands of athletes from over 30 different schools representing all GHSA classifications (A through 7A) competed in this meet. Thus, our athletes were able to compete against some of the best competition in the state of Georgia.”
The following FCHS athletes either placed in the Top Eight in their respective event(s) and scored points for our team or set a personal record (PR) at this meet:
Lindsey Holloway placed 1st in the 3200m run with a PR time of 11:19. This time places her in the Top 20 in the entire state (all classifications A - 7A) in this event.
The Girls 4x800m relay team made up of L. Holloway, Kensley Pickelsimer, Ava Acker, and Karli Sams placed 1st and set a school record with a PR time of 10:07.
L. Holloway placed 5th in the 1600m run with a PR time of 5:22.01. This time places her in the Top 100 in the entire state (all classifications A-7A) in this event.
Sams placed 8th in the 1600m run with a PR time of 5:28.68. This time places her in the Top 100 in the entire state (all classifications A-7A) in this event.
Acker placed 6th in the 800m run with a PR time of 2:28.52
Sydney Ford ran a PR time of 6:03.23 in the 1600m run.
Sydney German set a PR in Shot Put with a throw of 26-11.
Zechariah Prater placed 9th in the 1600m run with a PR time of 4:23.48. This time placed him in the Top 40 in the entire state (all classifications A-7A) in this event.
The Boys 4x400m relay team made up of Braxton Cheatham, Brody Angel, Prater, and Lawson Sullivan placed 6th with a time of 3:31.68.
Angel set a PR in the 800m run with a time of 2:09.75.
Cheatham set a PR in the 200m dash with a time of 23.02 and set a PR in the 400m dash with a time of 51.14.
Sullivan set a PR in the 400m dash with a time of 51.45.
Cohutta Brown set a PR in the 200m dash with a time of 23.58.
The girls team finished 11th out of 38 teams at this meet. All schools that finished ahead of Fannin are in GHSA classifications 4A through 7A.
