Thursday, August 4th, nine year-old Bosun Lindsey, of Mineral Bluff, finished second at the U.S. Wake Park National Championship in Auburndale, Florida.
The event was hosted by the World Wake Association along with Nautique Boats. The three-day event consisted of numerous ammature and professional riders throughout North America competing for the coveted National Championship. To qualify, riders from around the country compete in a series of Points Chase competitions throughout the year.
Lindsey’s 10 and under division consisted of 13 kids with no trick limitations or restrictions. The course was made up of numerous features including extra large jumps, rails and sliders built for riders of all skill levels.
Lindsey brought home the second place overall trophy in his division falling short of first place by less than 0.8 of a point out of 100.
His bracket consisted of 4 rounds: qualifying, quarter finals, semi finals and finals. He advanced through each scoring in the top two for each heat.
The youngster attends East Fannin Elementary and is an avid wakeboarder who enjoys cable riding at Terminus Wake Park in Cartersville, Georgia and behind the boat at Lake Blue Ridge.
He said favorite thing about wakeboarding is “shredding with my friends and pushing each other to try new tricks.”
When asked what his favorite trick is, Lindsey said “a heelside roll to revert off the extra large kicker or jump.
“This is basically a backflip followed by a 180 spin landing with the opposite foot forward,” his father, Charles, explained.
Although he is “small in stature, this nine year-old makes up for it in courage often launching numerous times his height in the air,” said his father.
