Lady Rebels beat Coosa in overtime

The Fannin County soccer Lady Rebels fought hard for a 3-2 win in overtime against the Coosa Lady Eagles Monday, March 14.

Mazie Goble scored a goal with 17:38 left on the clock in the first half. Goble was assisted by Annabel Lillard. The Coosa Lady Eagles scored two goals within the first half.

Madison Ponton was the next Lady Rebel to score in the second half.

Ponton assisted Stephanie Kirk for a crucial goal in overtime with just three minutes left on the clock.

The Lady Rebels defense was on fire as the team had a combined 40 defensive steals. Ponton as well as Hannah McSwain and Kinsley Sullivan added 21 of those 40, having seven steals each. The other Lady Rebels who contributed were Hannah Sosebee with five steals; Kirk added four more steals; Taylor Poland, Karmah Eaton and Cali Tuggle had three apiece; and, Annabel Lillard recorded one steal.

Goalkeeper Rachael Jessen earned nine saves.

The Lady Rebels are now 9-1 overall and 6-1 in region play following the victory.
