The Fannin County Rebels took an exciting 68-44 region win over North Murray, Tuesday, December 12, in overtime, knocking off the Mountaineers and taking the #3 spot in Region 7AA.
During the first quarter, the Rebels took an early lead 13-7. Rebels scorers were Kolton Kaylor with six, Jordan Richerson with four and Ben Bloch with three.
The second quarter saw the Rebels battle to keep a slim lead. Cole Gribble and Hudson Ethington combined for eight points, with four each. Richerson put in a three and Kaylor added a two to put the Rebels up 26-22 going into halftime.
Richerson led with nine in the third quarter. Ethington and Kaylor both had two and Bloch put in a free throw for one.
During the fourth quarter, Isaiah Angel put in four points. Richerson, Bloch and Matthew Ponton each had a two. The Rebels and Mountaineers were tied up at 50, so they went into overtime.
Richerson put in a three and Ponton put in one from the free throw line. Senior Bloch ended the game with a two at the buzzer to give Fannin the win.
