FCHS Marching Band getting ready
Summer band camp taught students the fundamentals of marching.
Before the fancy formations, the instruments and all the rest, marching band participants have to learn how to keep their step consistent.
“This is good, this is progress, this is growth,” Band Director Grant Davis told his students as he watched their step improve.
The band practiced Tuesday July 15, working hard despite hot weather.
Standing roughly 10 feet apart and measuring distance with lines on the football field, students learned how to keep in sync and in formation with each other.
Simple beginning routines like this one will eventually lead to the advanced formations, quick transitions and sharp turns that show school spirit at its best.
The event was hosted at Fannin County High School.
Marching band season officially began July 14.
