The Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team earned their first win of the 2025-26 season with a 66-49 victory over Union County, Tuesday, November 25, as Reese Lewis scored 19 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to pace Fannin County.
The Lady Rebels controlled the game from the opening tip, never giving up the advantage on their home court.
Maggie Ledford poured in 10 points in the first quarter as Fannin County outscored Union County 22-14 and the Lady Rebels held on to a 30-24 lead at halftime.
The third quarter saw Fannin outscore the visitors 18 to 12 to take a 48-36 lead at the buzzer. The Lady Rebels poured in another 18 points in the final period with their lead reaching a peak of 18 points late in the fourth quarter.
The team controlled the paint, grabbing 43 rebounds. Behind Lewis’ 16, Brooklyn Owenby pulled down seven and Izzie Jabaley and Avi Ethington grabbed six each to help set the pace.
Ledford knocked down three shots from beyond the arc as she turned in a 17-point performance. Ethington was the other Lady Rebel in double figures with 11. Albany Cole totaled 7 points, Jabaley pocketed 6 points, Toccoa Hampton finished with 5 points and Braylee Davenport put in a free throw for 1 point to total up to a Lady Rebels victory.
Fannin County passed the ball well with 16 assists on 25 made baskets.
Jabaley led the team with seven assists.
The Lady Rebels stood tall, blocking seven shots in the game. Lewis led the team with five blocks.
