The Fannin County Lady Rebels softball team topped the Rome Lady Wolves Monday, September 15, 13-1.
The Lady Rebels got on the board in the top of the first inning after Presley Daves singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Cason Roper grounded out, scoring one run, and Lana Cook singled, scoring one run.
A ground out by Olivia Hill extended the lead to 6-1 in the top of the second inning.
Fannin added four more runs in the top of the third inning on three hits. Myla Rogers doubled, scoring two runs, and McKinley Lord hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs.
Lord helped earn the win for Fannin County. The pitcher gave up one hit and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.
The Lady Rebels tallied 10 hits in the game. Number nine hitter, Makayla Stiles, showed the depth of the Lady Rebels’ lineup, by leading them with three hits in three at bats. Lord and Aubrey Barton each drove in two runs. Daves collected two hits in two at bats. Lord led the team with two walks.
Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up five walks for the game. Daves and Kylie Breeden each stole multiple bases.
As a team, the Lady Rebels ran wild on the base paths, accumulating nine stolen bases for the game, and turned one double play in the game.
