Theater starts 2020 season

The Blue Ridge Community Theater, located at 2591 East First St., is commemorating their 20th year with a Season Expo, January 11 at 2 p.m.

“We’ll be proudly celebrating 20 years of outstanding entertainment and supporting the arts in our community,” BRCT Production Manager Joseph Nicolella said. “We invite those in the community who appreciate theater, music and education to attend the expo.”

The expo will feature the directors of each main stage and Sunny D Children’s Theater show. Nicolella said, “They’ll share information about their plays or musicals, audition dates and volunteer opportunities to get involved backstage.”

Representatives from the Live Music is Better concert series will also be on hand to share information about the upcoming season. “It’s filled with talented musicians both new and familiar,” added Nicolella. “Prizes will be drawn between speakers and those present can win free tickets, BRCT merchandise, complimentary concessions, and more!”

Theater founders and leaders will reflect on the “amazing accomplishments this organization has achieved over the two decades of their existence.”

Attendees may tour the theater, lead by theater board members or the volunteer coordinator, to see behind the scenes and learn more about the theater. Volunteers do everything from building and painting the sets to landscaping and cleaning.
