The City of McCaysville held a swearing in ceremony for newly elected and re-elected city officials who will serve the next four years during an organizational meeting, January 2.
City Clerk Nancy Godfrey read the swearing in statement for re-elected Mayor Thomas Seabolt followed by the swearing in statement for re-elected council members Sue Beaver and Larry Collis, and new council members Gilita Carter, Susan Kiker and Jason Woody.
Seabolt, with the agreement of the council, named Collis as mayor pro tem. Collis will assume the duties and powers of the mayor if Seabolt is absent.
The Mayor appointed Woody to represent the water department while Collis is to represent the street department, Carter the financial department, Beaver the police department and Kiker the parks and recreation department.
