The Knights of Columbus and Copper Basin Veterinary Clinic will offer a low cost cat neuter and spay clinic Saturday, February 15 from 8 a.m. to noon at Copper Basin Veterinary Clinic.
The clinic is located in McCaysville at 163 East Tennessee Avenue.
This annual event began eight years ago and is a community service project to help reduce the number of stray and feral cats in the area.
The growing problem in the area and in southeast Tennessee overloads animal control agencies, Knights of Columbus member Dave Pierman said.
Clinic veterinarian Dr. William Mitchell’s goal is to offer low cost options to residents and reduce the number of unwanted strays. He said he has seen a marked decrease in that population since his clinic and other agencies in the area have added efforts with spay/neuter.
The Knights of Columbus use the opportunity as a the community service outreach project to raise funds for their patriotic charities as well.
This year’s clinic is designed specifically for cats. A male neuter will cost $25 and a female spay costs $70. The event is by appointment only.
Those wishing to make an appointment are asked to call the clinic at 706-492-4234.
