Landress named to fill Burger’s seat on Fannin Water Authority

Fannin County commissioners agreed to appoint Rick Landress to complete Mark Burger’s term on the Fannin County Water Authority through February of 2022.

The action came during the commissions regular meeting Tuesday, November 26.

Post One Commissioner Earl Johnson discussed how difficult it was to find a replacement who was willing to serve out Burger’s term.

“It’s getting harder and harder to get people to serve in any capacity on any board because they’re scared to death that something is gonna slap them in the face,” Johnson said. “If we would remember that when we’re out here or maybe thank some of the current board members who are serving throughout the county.”

The board also voted to provide full-time county employees, who are not elected, with a $100 Employee Deferred Compensation or “Christmas Bonus.” All part-time employees will receive $50.
