It’s almost here. The 9th Annual Fall Arts in the Park will take place rain or shine October 12 and 13, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
More than 100 fine arts and fine crafts vendors, featuring paintings, photography, wood turning, metal work, pottery, jewelry, photography and more, are scheduled to participate in the annual festival located in the downtown Blue Ridge park.
Kids are welcome to make their own art in the Kid’s Art Activities booth and a variety of food vendors will be available as well.
Cecilia Acevedo, Festival & Community Development Coordinator, said pets are permitted at the festival but must be on a leash and well behaved. “Please be cognizant of the weather and the effects on your pet. Several artist booths are located on the street where the temperature of the pavement can be dangerous for dog paws,” she said. Organizers recommend that pet owners protect their pet’s paws from these hot walking surfaces. “We also recommend that you bring a water bowl and water for your pet,” Acevedo added.
Weekend admission is $5 for adults. Children under 12 are admitted free. Entry booths will be located at several points around the park.
The event is sponsored by the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association and Art Center (BRMAA). The BRMAA sponsors two Arts in the Park festivals each year. The other is the Spring Arts in the Park held in May during Memorial Day weekend.
Funds received from both events support the BRMAA and help sponsor the arts in the Blue Ridge area.
