The Fannin County Rebel and Lady Rebel Cross Country teams recently competed in the GHSA Region 7AA Championship Tuesday, October 26, at Pepperell High School.
Both the Lady Rebels and Rebels shined, as the Lady Rebels claimed first place and the Rebels brought home second place.
In the Girls 5000 Meter Run Finals, Carlee Holloway led the Lady Rebels with a third place overall finish. Holloway finished with a time of 21:55.76. Lindsey Holloway was on the heels of Carlee, placing fourth overall with a time of 22:22.31.
Monica Cosentino placed seventh for Fannin with a time of 24:01.85. Kinsley Sullivan finishing in 10 place with a time of 24:51.21.
Makayla Jones finished in 12 place with a time of 25:24.24, followed by Shaylee Jones finishing 22 with a time of 27:19.19, Taylor Poland placing 23, with a time of 27:30; and Jaclyn Cracknell placing 25 with a time of 28:04.92.
In the Boys 5000 Meter Run Finals Zechariah Prater led the Rebels finishing in fourth place with a time of 17:53.86. Gavin Davis finished in fifth place with a time of 17:58.93, and Benjamin Bloch finished the day in eighth place with a time of 18:34.17.
Phoenix Leifer finished in 12 place with 19:02.07, while Luke Callihan finished 15 with a time of 19:14.88. Sam Jabaley had a time of 20:39.39, which was enough for a 24 place finish, and James Kyle placed 35 with a time of 21:33.38.
Cross country coach Suzianne Pass was proud of her teams, saying, “ I am very proud of how hard the kids have worked this season. So proud of the girls for defending their Region championship, and the boys did an amazing job finishing second. We are very excited to see how well they do next week at the state meet. The girls were sixth last year and the boys placed 13. We know they will continue working hard to improve their finishing spots next week.”
