Mrs. Evelyn Burnette Ross, age 80, of Blue Ridge, passed away peacefully June 20, 2021, at her home surrounded by family.

Evelyn was born in Blue Ridge July 21, 1940, to the late Forrest and Ettie Couch Burnette. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who proudly raised five daughters and loved baby sitting and playing with her grandchildren. She was a long time member of the Sunrise Tabernacle Church. Evelyn enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and riding through the mountains. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmy Ross; and one sister, Jerlene Rhodes.

Survivors include her five daughters and their spouses, Linda and Paul Barnett, Brenda and Marty Lowe, Glenda and Mike Burger, Lisa Crane, all of Blue Ridge, and Rebecca and Dr. Richard Vollrath of Parrish, Florida; grandchildren and their spouses, Stacy and Mike Herndon, Brandon and Candace Burger, all of Blue Ridge, Tiffany Lowe of Fort Hood, Texas, Tamra and Cody Payne of Blue Ridge, Tim Crane and Tiffany Love of Canton, Georgia, and Brianna Crane, also of Blue Ridge; great-grandchildren, Savannah and Chloe Herndon, Brayden Lowe, Evelyn Burger, Ellie Payne; siblings, Junior and Linda Burnette of Morganton, Calvin and Willie Jo Burnette and Patricia Rhodes, all of Blue Ridge.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 7 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating.

Interment followed privately Wednesday, June 23, 2021, in the Sunrise Tabernacle Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brandon Burger, Tim Crane, Cody Payne, Mike Herndon, Brian Johnson and Adam Farmer. Special recognition is extended to Pruitt Hospice and Jerrod Curtis, RN, and also to all family and friends for their care during her illness.
