Dorothy Jean “Dot” (Kisselburg) Sullivan, age 93, of McCaysville, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021, peacefully at home, surrounded by family.

She was born May 18, 1928, to her late parents Pearley Lee Kisselburg Sr., and Myrtle Eunice (Kaylor) Kisselburg of McCaysville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Copperhill.

She graduated from McCaysville High School in 1945. After graduating, and working in several jobs within McCaysville, she met the love of her life, Robert Hugh Sullivan. They married December 31, 1949, and had a loving, joyful marriage of 65 plus years.

Dot had a strong love of her faith, family and friends. Visiting with family and friends was a favorite pastime filled with laugher, story-telling and gentle ribbing, especially with family. She enjoyed hobbies including crafts, collecting Depression glass, ceramics, and quilts and gardening.

Her flower gardens surrounded her home and showcased her love of wildflowers, which her husband also shared. She and Hugh enjoyed vegetable gardening and put in a garden each year for several decades. Part of each fall was always spent at the cannery in Blue Ridge preserving the fruit of their work. Gardening was a passion she and Hugh shared.

In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh; and daughter, Luanne.

She is survived by her son, Patrick of Houston, Texas; twin brother, Donald (Don) Lynn Kisselburg of Marietta, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, Saturday, August 7, 2021, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
