When Holly Danielle Williams stopped at a McCaysville convenience store, she must not have known law enforcement authorities were looking for her.
Williams stopped at the Conoco on Blue Ridge Drive around 1:30 a.m. Friday, May 22. At the time, McCaysville patrolmen Philip Newberry and Pete Kusek, along with Polk County deputy sheriffs Manuel Patterson and Michael Cochran were at the store.
McCaysville Chief Detective Billy Brackett said Polk County Detective Jake Wallace had approached him about 2 p.m. the previous day, Thursday, and asked that officers be on the lookout for Williams. Polk authorities were looking for her to serve a grand jury indictment for possession of methamphetamine for resale, Brackett said.
After officers spotted Williams at the convenience store, they followed her and performed a traffic stop on Toccoa Avenue/Highway 60 just south of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville.
Brackett said a search turned up 20 grams of methamphetamine, scales with residue on them, and other drug related objects.
She was arrested by the McCaysville officers and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell and possession of drug related objects.
Williams, 43, of 269 Williamstown Road in McCaysville, was taken to the Fannin County Detention Center, Brackett said.
A hold was placed on her for Polk County authorities.
