A disturbance in the Blue Ridge Walmart led to the arrest of a McCaysville woman Sunday, May 31.
Lieutenant Gary Huffman of the Blue Ridge Police Department said officers were dispatched to Walmart about 3 p.m. regarding a woman screaming and talking jibberish.
Officer Thomas Davis arrived first and made contact with Bridgett Danielle Calligari in the cash register area of the store.
He tried to get her to leave the store, but she refused. Huffman arrived soon afterward, and struggles ensued before the woman was placed into a patrol vehicle.
Huffman said the situation began inside the store when Calligari allegedly touched a child on the head and adults intervened. The child’s parents chose not to press charges.
Huffman took Callegari to the Fannin County Detention Center and charged her with three misdemeanors, two counts of obstruction of an officer and one count of disorderly conduct.
At the jail, it was determined she also had three outstanding warrants, one felony cruelty to children, one misdemeanor cruelty to children and one misdemeanor battery/family violence.
Those charges had been taken by Fannin County Deputy Sheriff John Kinser the evening before on May 27.
Thursday, June 4, Calligari, 44, of 166 Creekside Drive, McCaysville, remained in custody in the Fannin County Detention Center.
