Members of Fannin County Barking Buddies organized a free vaccine clinic for cats and dogs at Cohutta Animal Clinic on Saturday, March 1.
The event offered rabies shots, core vaccines and microchipping completely free to the public.
About 150 animals were given vaccines, including 116 dogs and 30 cats.
The event was conducted by volunteers from Barking Buddies, Cohutta Animal Clinic, Blue Ridge Animal Control, and Force-Free Dog Trainer.
Doctors of the Cohutta Animal Clinic volunteered to do the rabies vaccines, Blue Ridge Animal Control donated the core vaccines and sent a volunteer for microchipping, and Barking Buddies paid for the microchips and gave gift bags to all guests.
Members of Force-Free Dog Trainer volunteered to help the event run smoothly and gave advice about dog training to guests waiting in line for the vaccines.
“Barking Buddies would not be able to do this without donations from the public” said Donna Turek, president of Barking Buddies.
Barking Buddies hosts several similar events throughout the year, including a monthly event where volunteers give out free pet food to Family Connection clients the third Thursday of every month.
