Tickets go on sale this Friday, July 31, for the 24th annual Kiwanis Club of Blue Ridge & Mountain Valley Motors Championship Rodeo.
The extremely popular event, which traditionally fills the Kiwanis Club Fairgrounds in Blue Ridge with spectators, is one of the few events that has not been canceled this year.
But there will be some changes as the rodeo is spread out over three days with limited seating.
Kiwanis Rodeo Chairman Kevin Panter said the governor’s office guidelines will be followed. Because of those, “Approximately 800 people will be our max capacity each night.”
The rodeo will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 20, 21 and 22, with gates opening at 6 p.m. and events getting underway at 8 p.m.
Even with the governor’s restrictions and an extra day, the rodeo promises the same excitement as rodeo fans have come to expect throughout its history. Bronc riding, bull riding, bareback riding, calf roping and calf scrambling and steer wrestling return. There will also be team roping, ladies breakaway roping and barrel racing.
The Mountain Valley Motors Boot Toss is back, giving fans a chance to win a 2020 Dodge Ram truck. The toss will only be featured Friday and Saturday nights.
Panter also promises “a few more surprise activities” to help spectators enjoy the rodeo.
An adult ticket for the event is $15. Tickets for children 8 and under are $5 and children 3 and under are admitted free.
Tickets are being sold online and are date-specific in order to meet capacity requirements, Panter said.
