Blue Ridge Community Theater (BRCT) thanks the community for raising over $34,000 to relieve deficits caused by COVID-19 closures.
The GoFundMe campaign, where folks made their donations, has been stopped, but anyone who wishes to donate may still do so by sending checks to 2591 E. First St., Blue Ridge, Georgia, 30513 or online at blueridgecommunitytheater.com.
BRCT’s first main stage production of the year, “Four Old Broads,” was forced to halt on the show’s final weekend in March due to COVID-19 concerns.
“The theater plans to bring the ‘old broads’ back with a ‘Christmas twist’ on November 19,” Production Manager Joseph Nicolella said.
BRCT has developed new practices to ensure the safety of all who enter the facility.
In fact, a disinfectant fogger has been purchased to sanitize the auditorium between showings.
With COVID-19 guidelines in place, the theater will only allow 35-50 patrons per show.
During the closures, the costume department, now referred to as “The Sisters of Perpetual Sewing,” was able to keep busy by making over 2,000 face masks to combat the shortage that arose.
These masks were donated to nursing homes, hospitals and doctor’s offices.
BRCT still has masks left over and are free to pick up at the theater on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
