Ramsey named at FCHS

Fannin County High School (FCHS) Assistant Principal Dr. Scott Ramsey has been selected to serve as the next principal at the high school following a Fannin County Board of Education special called meeting Friday, April 30, where the majority of the board voted to approve Ramsey with Chair Chad Galloway and board member Bobby Bearden voting in opposition.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity, and I’m looking forward to getting to work and continuing with a lot of the great things we’ve got going on here like STEM and doing the best we can for all of the students in Fannin County,” Ramsey said.

Superintendent Dr. Michael Gwatney discussed the selection process in a letter to the community Saturday, May 1, stating, “In response to the principal opening at FCHS, top applicants were interviewed recently by members of the district leadership team and me. Following our Charter, the School Governance Team (SGT) of FCHS held a called meeting yesterday and met with the finalists of the district interviews. At the conclusion of their meeting, the FCHS SGT recommended Dr. Ramsey, and I made that recommendation to the Fannin County Board of Education during a special called meeting yesterday afternoon.”

Ramsey will work closely with Interim Principal Debbie Decubellis through the end of the school year to ensure a smooth transition.
