Polk County property owners will see the same tax rate when they get their annual bills this year following action taken by county commissioners Thursday, June 27.
Commissioners adopted a property tax rate of $1.6895 for 2024, which is identical to the 2023 rate.
While the rate is the same, the distribution of the revenue shifted.
For 2024;
•$1.1613 will go to the General Fund compared to $1.1017;
•$0.1925 will go to Solid Waste/Sanitation compared to $0.1500;
•$0.1337 will go to General Purpose School compared to $0.2452; and,
•$0.2020 will go to General Debt Service compared to $0.1926.
In what commissioners described as a balanced budget between the two years, both revenues and expenditures increased.
Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 revenue is projected at $11,172,679 compared to FY 2024 revenue of $10,520,321.
Expenditures for FY 2025 are projected at $11,171,469 compared to $10,519,995 for FY 24.
