One student, one staff have COVID-19

Fannin County has seen an increase of 80 cases of COVID-19 over the last two weeks as of Friday, September 4.

This brings the county’s total up to 484. Eight of those people who had contracted the virus have died, and 38 have been hospitalized. 

Of the Fannin County School System’s 2,880 students, one has a current COVID-19 status, one is quarantined due to exposure at school and 20 are quarantined due to non-school exposure.

Of the 472 system employees, one has a current COVID-19 status, one is quarantined due to an exposure at school and two are quarantined due to non-school exposure.

There are 440 students enrolled in online learning who do not attend in-person classes.

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported that Georgia has seen 279,354 confirmed cases, 5,931 virus related deaths, 25,402 hospitalizations and 4,664 ICU admissions. Of these, 2,132 confirmed cases, 65 deaths and 143 were reported September 4.

According to the Georgia Geospatial Information Office, the United States has seen 6,173,645 confirmed cases, 187,165 deaths and 2,266,957 recoveries.
