Nixle signups urged

Fannin County’s Emergency Management Agency and local leaders are asking residents to sign-up to receive local alerts and public safety messages through Nixle.

Through Nixle, a mass communications hub built exclusively for government to provide secure, reliable, and relevant information, residents are able to receive localized emergency situation alerts and relevant community advisories in real-time.

According to Fannin County EMA Director Robert Graham, alerts and advisories are automatically sent concerning severe weather, and the organization also uses the system to send information of local government, road closures, utility issues, missing persons and information and instructions for emergencies and disasters.

All alerts are targeted geographically, which allows residents to receive localized and relevant alerts from Fannin County EMA. These alerts can be sent via text, email, voice, web, social media and the Nixle mobile app.

Residents can register to receive these alerts for free by either texting their zip code to 888777 from their mobile phone or by going to fannincountyga.com or https://local.nixle.com/fannin-county-ema/ to sign up online.
