Two suspects face kidnapping charges in conjunction with a weekend carjacking in Fannin County.
Gary Brian Ferguson III, 21, of 2406 Whitestone Road, North, in Talking Rock, and Heather Francis Rudy, 33, of 116 Tarpley Lane in Morganton, are both charged with kidnapping.
They were held without bond in the Fannin County Jail late Monday afternoon, and more charges were expected to be filed.
Warrants taken by Fannin County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Erin Sehl accuse Ferguson of kidnapping by pointing a firearm at the victim and forcing him to drive to a location. Rudy is accused of aiding Ferguson in the kidnapping for the purpose of fleeing the scene of a separate crime.
Ferguson is also charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm/knife during commission of a crime in connection with the alleged kidnapping.
All the charges against both are felonies.
The warrants state the crimes occurred between 7:42 p.m. Saturday, January 25, and 1:01 a.m. Sunday, January 26.
The warrants cite the Galloway Drive area of Morganton as the location of the crimes.
Deputies converged on the area Saturday night after an initial call came in to the 911 Center.
