The Polk County Commission approved a new Third District school board appointment, the county budget and tax levy during their regular monthly meeting Thursday, July 22.
With the exception of Jeremy Kimsey who passed and James Woody who voted no, commissioners approved the appointment of Nathan Henderson to the vacant school board seat. Henderson will serve until a new member is voted on in the next election.
The commissioners also approved the county budget and tax levy for fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, with the exception of Dewey Esquinance who passed.
The Gener a l Fund budget was approved for $9,098,866.
Other funds approved were the Sanitation Fund for $590,098, Highway and Public Works Fund for $5,314,706, General Purpose School Fund for $18,800,291, and Debt Service Fund for $2,070,134.
And, the tax levy was set at $2.5120 on each $100 of taxable property.
Taxes collected will provide revenue for each of the following funds at the following rates:
•General fund, $1.4066;
•Solid Waste/Sanitation, $0.0846;
•General Purpose fund, $0.7010; and,
•General Debt fund, $0.3198.
