Health department again taking COVID-19 vaccine signups

COVID-19 vaccines are continuing to arrive to the state in “extremely limited supply,” however, now eligible Fannin County residents can make appointments for vaccinations through the North Georgia Health District (NGHD) at the Fannin County Health Department again.

Prior to March 8, the only residents who are eligible to receive a vaccine in Georgia are individuals 65 years of age and older and their caregivers, healthcare personnel and long-term care facility residents and staff, and law enforcement, fire, EMS personnel and 9-1-1 operators.

However, Governor Brian Kemp announced Thursday, February 25, that the state will also open eligibility up to Pre-K through 12th grade educators and staff, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers, and parents of children with complex medical conditions, starting Monday, March 8.

“COVID-19 vaccines continue to arrive in Georgia in extremely limited supply, but we anticipate these vaccine supplies from the federal government to increase at some point soon,” NGHD Public Information Officer and Risk Communicator Jennifer King said. “So far, 1,885,179 COVID-19 vaccines have been provided in Georgia. A total of 92,293 have been administered by all COVID-19 vaccine providers in our six-county health district, both private providers and public health (75% by public health), and that includes 5,866 doses that have been given so far in Fannin County.”

To schedule an appointment at the Fannin County Health Department, call the  NGHD hotline at 1-888-881-1474. Call volumes may be high. NGHD staff has suggested monitoring their website at www.nghd.org or their Facebook, Instagram of Twitter accounts for updated information.
