A former NFL football player has been charged with Misdemeanor, Battery (Family Violence) as the result of an altercation October 28, 2021, at an Old Gravel Road address in Epworth.
Byron A. Stingily, 33, of 9692 Brass Valley Drive, Brentwood, Tennessee, is accused of causing “substantial visble bodily harm” to the victim in a warrant taken out by Fannin County Deputy Sheriff Brian Wingate.
That warrant said the victim suffered her injuries when she was struck and thrown to the ground by Stingily. The altercation “resulted in several bruises and a scratch on her forehead,” the warrant said.
Wingate’s report said he was originally dispatched to the McCaysville Police Department to speak with the victim about the incident.
The victim told the deputy sheriff the two were involved in an argument at a rental cabin at 540 Old Gravel Road in Epworth. She said she and Stingily were having a conversation that escalated into an argument. That argument resulted in the physical altercation. The victim also accused Stingily of breaking her phone during the argument.
Stingily is described in the sheriff’s office report of the incident as standing 6-feet, 5-inches tall and weighing 315 pounds.
He was drafted in 2011 by the Tennessee Titans and played three years for the Nashville NFL team. He also played a year with the Pittsburgh Steelers and a year with the New York Giants.
Stingily is currently wanted on the charge in the warrant.
