Feed Fannin is launching a two-month long campaign next week to raise money for holiday meals this Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Donors can help provide hams and turkeys for families in need by donating to the Holiday Meals Campaign that kicks off August 15 and continues through October 15. During that time, donations will go even farther to meet the need, Feed Fannin Chairman Ron Ciochon explained in a letter last week.
“Through the generosity of an anonymous donor your donations...will be matched up to $20,000 to help us purchase the hams and turkeys needed,” Ciochon wrote.
“Rising prices strain the limited income of many seniors, single parents with children, the disabled and infirm who struggle with impossible choices between purchasing food or paying for medicines, gas or utilities,” Ciochon wrote. Feed Fannin continues to address their basic needs for food.
That effort is continuous. Kathy Beck, vice chair of Ag Education, said July “has been a busy month at the Feed Fannin farm.” Volunteers have grown and donated 1,807 pounds of fresh produce to the Family Connection Food Pantry in addition to 5,317 pounds of produce the organization purchased for the Summer Meals Program. “We are blessed and thankful to be able to give back to our community,” Beck said.
Ciochon asks, “Please donate now to help us do more than ever to help bring the warmth, joy and love of sharing a holiday meal to our neighbors in need this holiday season” by giving to the Holiday Meals Campaign. Starting August 15 and continuing through October 15, donations will be matched up to $20,000 and can be mailed to Feed Fannin at P.O. Box 1085, Blue Ridge, Georgia, 30513, or can be made online at www.feedfannin.org/donate.
“Please indicate your donation is for the Holiday Meals Campaign,” Ciochon said.
