Fannin students join National Honor Society

Fannin County High School inducted several students into the National Honor Society by way of a virtual ceremony Monday, May 4.

“These students are the role models for student body,” NHS Sponsor Angela Patterson said. “They exhibit high personal standards through their years in high school and will continue those high personal standards as they moved beyond these walls. Universities and other institutions of higher learning recognize that a student who can claim membership in the National Honor Society combines excellent potential for success with ethical and moral integrity.”

Mollie Larisey, Bethany Musselman and Jaret Walker were inducted as seniors.Juniors Ana Arvidson, Mason Bundy, Jordan Ensley, Hernan Mares, Jaylin Rau and Mia Thompson were  also inducted. 

The following sophomores were inducted: Lizbeth Acevedo Montoya, Ricardo Arellanes Alvarado, Aubree Beavers, Jolie Breeden, Rachel Bruce, Ashlyn Burger, Breanna Carroll, Alyson Chastain, Anthony Covey, Cassidy Culpepper, Joshua Daves, Hunter DeMar, Tempest Giet, Erin Gonzales, David Hamby, Jacklyn Harris, Kirsten Holloway, Rachel Jessen, Cater Johnson, Ethan Jolly, Ethan Jones, Jacob Kuna, Giovanni Leal Garcia, Blake Ledford, Annabel Lillard, Alexis Long, Carter Mann, Tanner Martin, Hannah Mashburn, Sydney McGill, Grace Mintz, Sawyer Moreland, Haylee Newton, Leah Pope, Raven Porter, Adaelyn Ray, Mary Rice, Christalee Rios-Espinoza, Hallie Shuler, Carlyle Skelton, Tadin Strickland, Kinsley Sullivan, Emily Turner, Drake Usry, Erin Walker, William Watkins, Kaitlyn White, Reagan York, Jenna Young and Kathryn Young.

Outgoing President, Hannah Cruse, received this year’s NHS scholarship, which totals $3,200, during the ceremony.

“Hannah Cruse has been the true embodiment of a leader for Fannin County’s National Honor Society,” Patterson said. “As president, she has been a true student leader for our chapter. She did not simply take the National Honor Society pledge. She chose to walk out each of the characteristics, serving her fellow members while guiding the chapter.” 

New officers were also installed during the ceremony.

Cruse will pass the torch to Kimberly Wyant, outgoing Vice-President Lora Gwatney transferred her responsibility to Isobella Dilbeck, outgoing Secretary Lexi McGill transferred her responsibility to Chanley Watson and outgoing treasurer Zachary Nelson transferred his responsibility to Samuel Dillard.

“The outgoing officers have served with willing hearts,” Patterson said. “We thank you for all your efforts as you have added to the history of this organization.

Senior members were honored during the ceremony during the ceremony and will receive their honor cords.
