Fannin County voting for two seats on Georgia’s Public Service Commission (PSC) remained at a snail’s pace last week.
The second six days of voting proved slower than the first five, according to figures from Elections Supervisor Mary Ann Conner.
Starting Monday, June 2, and continuing through Saturday, June 7, a total of 4 7 votes were cast in the statewide races. The previous five days of voting, May 27 through May 31, saw 57 votes cast.
As of Monday morning, June 9, when the polls re-opened, 104 votes had been cast.
Additionally, 20 absentee ballots had been requested.
Advance voting continues through this Friday, June 13, in the Board of Elections office on the third floor of the Fannin County Courthouse. Voting hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Election day is Tuesday, June 17, when all Fannin County polling places will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Georgians are being asked to fill PSC seats from District 2 and District 3.
On the Republican ballot for District 2, incumbent Tim Echols is being challenged by Lee Mums.
Incumbent Fitz Johnson has no opposition in the Republican primary for his District 3 seat.
On the Democratic ballot, Alicia M. Johnson is the lone District 2 candidate. Four candidates are seeking the party’s nomination to the District 3 seat; Daniel Blackman, Peter Hubbard, Robert Jones and Keisha Sean Waites.
