The East Polk Public Library will launch its Summer Reading Program, Imagine Your Story, Monday, June 15 with several new additions and changes to their regular program.
“We wanted to be able to still provide a Summer Reading Program this year and be able to maintain socially distancing for participants,” Library Director Lori Cox said.
The library will be providing five ways that children and adults can participate in this year’s Summer Reading Program including:
•An online story time video posted on every Monday for six weeks starting June 15 on the library’s Facebook page;
•Craft/Activity packets for adults and children to pick up each week at the library that coincide with the theme for that week;
•Readsquared, which is a free app where adults and children can earn points through reading and other activities to redeem for prizes at the library;
•Online Book Club, where the library has selected five books for an online book club for teens and adults through the website Goodreads.com; and,
•BINGO, where there will be a reading bingo game for adults and children to participate in that they can pick up at the library.
“Our staff is very excited to try out the new formats this year and we hope to add them to our programming schedule in the future,” Cox said.
